 Welcome to the official website of Lerwick Thistle Football Club. 'Thistle' as we are known locally is an amateur football club, based in Lerwick and is managed by a committed team of volunteers and parents. Thistle was originally formed in 1902 and are affiliated to the Shetland Football Association. We compete in the local Junior and Senior competitions and currently run 9 teams from our young players at 8s right up to the Senior ‘A’ team.

| Thistle Golf Day |
 After a few years absense Thistle's once illustrious golf day is set to return. Paul Nicol has provisionally booked Dale for Saturday 2nd August, tee-ing off mid to late afternoon. The format will be 9 holes, Texas Scramble as before, with a curry and numerous pints afterwards. Depending on numbers we'll hopefully be able to make teams of 3, comprising one good/decent player, one semi-rubbish player and one thoroughly inept individual (i.e. Thommo).
If you are interested in playing and are able to make the 2nd of August can you please let Paul know so he can inform the golf club of expected numbers |

| Jags knock out Champions in Madrid Cup |
 A FINE team performance from the Jags' first string saw them dump Delting out of the Madrid Cup at Seafield last night (Monday). Full report on that match, plus write-ups from all senior A team games, are in the results and reports section now! |

| Outdoor 6-a-side Tournament |
| James Johnson has organised an outdoor 6-a-side tournament for saturday 12th april, £35 per team. The tournament will be held on the muck about and rugby pitches at clickimin. He is hoping to get a team from each club at least, surely we can enter a couple eh lads? |

| Thistle Ladies - Season 2008 |
 Thistle Ladies team are taking to the field for the coming 2008 season with a new Management team of Caroline Watt and John Ward. All players who played previously will be contacted about re-signing, and we are also looking for any interested female players (over 14 years old) to help bolster our squad for the coming season. We will be starting regular training sessions soon, and as they say in all the best adverts - no experience needed as full training will be provided.

| Indoor 5 a side tournament |
 The annual Shetland Junior Football Association indoor 5 a side tournament is being held at Clickimin on Saturday 15th March from 2pm until 5:30pm. Thistle will be putting a team in for this, which will probably involve 10 players.

We have completely re-written the whole website to bring it up to date and make it more interactive, you can now post short messages in the Shoutbox, take part in the Discussion Forum, and if you're a member you can upload photos to the Photo Gallery, submit match results/reports, add a web link and submit events to the Calendar. All the data from previous seasons is still available here
To use many of these features you must be a member and be 'logged-in'. Membership of this website is free and is open to anyone regardless of whether or not you're a Thistle player, indeed players/supporters of other teams are very welcome to join and take part in some good natured banter in the discussion forums,etc.
We hope you will take a few moments to register an account on this website; please be assured that Lerwick Thistle will never pass on or sell your contact details to any third party and you can opt-out of receiving our occasional newsletter
